The Hunt of Revenge

In the times of old,
There was a legend told,
That said the end was nigh,
And strangely involved pumpkin pie!

Throughout the land they searched,
The ones who were the end,
Eating the pie that was told of,
Gotten from a merchant on the open road.

The one they hunt is hidden,
In a forest that is deemed cursed,
For it was haunted by a wolf,
Who was a man in truth.

This one that was hid,
Had not even known that he was hiding!
For he was just following his day,
Hunting for a meal.

As he hid behind the tree,
Keeping an eye on his prey,
It got started and ran away

He cursed his ill luck
In till the arrow pierced the tree in front of his face
The Hunters have found there Prey!

He turned from his place,
Arrows coming close enough to touch,
And ran

But the Hunters aren’t giving up yet!
They take up the chase
Loosing arrows after there prey while on horseback

As the arrows fly they hit all around him,
Some catching the folds of his dark cloak
And few cutting narrow furrows in his skin

The horses are fast and catch up to him
The Hunters draw there blades and attempt to remove his head
The blades come close but never touch him
He goes a zigzag through the forest
And yet they stay on him
He goes routes he only knows
And they persist!

As he runs his cloak blows to the side
Showing the reason they hunt him
For he is the ‘haunt’ of the forest
He is the wolf who is Man!

He runs for his life
But those horses are fresh!
And he has been hunting in midday heat…

The third of five hunters puts away his sword
And draws his bow instead,
Firing an arrow in one clean motion
It hits the man in the shoulder
And he falls in a small rift in the earth

As he fell his hand caught a ledge
The Hunters above thought he was dead
But he was only out of sight!

He waited till nightfall,
And rose out of the rift,
Torn and battered.

He run silently and undetected
And gets to his forest home to witness a nightmare
His friends…his family…
Dead is there own blood.

His wife……is hardly recognizable,
It looks like someone took a meat grinder to her body,
She can only be recognized by her hair.

His son…….is no better off,
He looks like someone skinned him alive!
His body lies twitching on the ground,
He can only be recognized by his eyes.

And his dear friend……Manah
Has been more then skinned….

She, the wolf who was his other half…
For lycans like him have two halves.
One side is human….
One side wolf….
But the wolf half came from his other,
And his other human went to fill the gap that wolf gave.

She, his other half…
Was missing her head…
Her heart…..
And her soul…..

They…the hunters,
Took them all,
They did it because he escaped there grasp.

He decides to go….
And make them pay,
For they had taken more then his family and friends,
For they have taken his heart and soul.

He leaves his family and friends where they lay,
Only taking his blade as he leaves,
He seals the entrance of his home with the wind itself,
And goes after the hunters.

He travels for days,
Hardly eating,
Hardly sleeping,
But always after the trail of the hunters.

He follows it to the center of the Rim Mountains,
Where he finds a fortress of immense size,
And knows that his revenge lies inside.

He waits till nightfall,
And sneaks up to the only way in,
And dispatches with the guard with chilling ease.

He comes into the castle and looks around,
And finds himself in a narrow corridor,
That leads straight ahead.

He follows it for what seems like ages,
And stops at a fork in the path,
One goes forward,
And one goes left.

He goes to the left to find a dead end after some time,
And turns around to see one of the hunters that killed his family!

He draws his sword with a slight rasp,
As the hunter does the same,
And he waits for the hunter to make the first move.

As the hunter steps forward with his blade coming up,
He moves to the side dodging it,
And his blade comes down.

The blows get traded,
And to those who would watch,
It would look like a slivery dance,
A dance to the death it is…

The hunter is relaxed as he moves,
Believing that this is going to be easy,
But soon realizes who he faces!

The moves get faster,
The blades start to whistle through the air,
Yet no blood is drawn throughout it all.

He sees a hole in the Hunters defense,
And has seen it for awhile,
And takes it.

The hunter is confident
In till he fells something cold enter him
He falls thinking while his life drains from him
‘But….how? I can’t lose!

1 is gone…
4 more remain…
Where there are is a mystery for another day

Another day….
Another time…
